House fire brings new concerns to light
No injuries were sustained during a fire at a house in Pomona Agricultural Holdings, on Friday, October 2.
The fire, which started at around 10am in Boncretion Street, Kempton Park was put out by the Ekurhuleni Disaster and Emergency Management Services (DEMS).
Although the blaze was stopped, William Ntladi, media liaison officer of DEMS, said he hadn’t been aware of it until media alerted him.
“If people contact the media about fires instead of us, directly, how are we supposed to react in time?” he asked.
Ntladi urged the public to contact DEMS in case of life-threatening emergencies.
