Signs needed to stop accidents

The lack of a stop sign at an intersection in Marister is being blamed for at least three accidents over the past year.

Jan de Beer, who lives on Vorster Road in Marister, said a stop sign is needed to prevent accidents on the dirt road at the intersection of Ash and Vorster roads.

He is also asking for roads to be tarred in the area to allow for roads makings to be painted.

De Beer said the latest accident occurred on August 21.

At least two more happened on September 12 and 18, last year.

De Beer said approximately 60 per cent of intersections are not equipped with stop signs.

Ward 100 Clr Pieter Henning said it is not difficult to get the municipality to erect signs.

To ask for one in Henning’s ward (Petit, Marister and Benoni Agricultural Holdings), contact him on 083 626 3563.
