Man arrested for possession of stolen vehicle

A man was arrested for being in possession of a stolen vehicle on October 9.

According to Sgt Constance Moalusi, Benoni SAPS cluster spokesperson, the police received a tip-off that three men were stripping a Toyota Hilux at the Actonville Cemetery.

When police arrived at the cemetery, they found the men moving parts from the vehicle.

“Two of the suspects fled and the third suspect got into the stolen vehicle and crashed into a police vehicle while attempting to escape,” said Moalusi .

Police managed to apprehended only one of the suspects.

It was later discovered that the vehicle was stolen at the Glynnwood Hospital, on the same day.

A case of being in possession of a stolen vehicle, driving without a license and malicious damage to a state vehicle was opened at the Benoni Police Station.

Benoni SAPS acting cluster commander, Brig Poobalan Subbiah, thanked the community for giving the police information and for promoting a good relationship with the police.
