I have been helping my husband with a lift to work in Benoni town for a couple of weeks.
I have to say something about the filth and litter on Voortrekker Street, starting down by the dam at the taxi rank and working its way upward to Prince’s Avenue.
Shame on the shop owners who allow the hawkers to sell on the pavements in front of their shops and don’t insist on them cleaning up the litter when they pack up at the end of the day.
Shame on the people who think it’s okay to throw their litter on the ground.
It’s not okay.
It is disgusting and our dear decision makers in the municipality don’t care a damn about the environment or about our town.
