Former SPCA staffers appeal dismissal

After being suspended from the Benoni SPCA recently, the former manager and senior inspector of the society have approached the Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration (CCMA).

Adele Makings (branch manager) and Reneé Rossolimos (inspector) were suspended from the organisation in September, pending internal investigations into unconfirmed allegations lodged against them.

Both Makings and Rossolimos recently took their cases to the CCMA, after they were dismissed during the internal hearings.

The appeal hearings are expected to last until next year.

Shelley Owens, co-chairperson of the Benoni SPCA, would not reveal the nature of the allegations that were levelled against Makings and Rossolimos.
