Evening protest to be held at Bunny Park

Animal welfare organisations are calling for the removal of the latest caretaker at the Bunny Park.

Ban Animal Trading (Bat) and the Bunny Park Animals 911 Group have invited the public to a peaceful vigil outside the Bunny Park on Thursday (April 21).

The main goals are to collect additional food for the park’s animals and to protest the appointment of the new caretaker, as well as the lack of food at the park, according to Tania Forrest-Smith, founder of the 911 Group.

“The animals are supposed to be sterilised, but there are many newborns that don’t get fed,” said Forrest-Smith.

The peaceful observance will be held from 6pm until 10pm and participants can meet at the facility’s main entrance.

The groups asked that any participants bring a bag of food for the park’s animals.

For more information, contact Forrest-Smith on 084 601 1061, or visit the groups’ Facebook pages.
