Police pounce on man with dagga

A man believed to have been selling dagga to schoolchildren was arrested at his home in Chief Albert Luthuli Park on May 25.

According to Tryna Martiz, Crystal Park SAPS communications officer, police received information from an informant that the 30-year-old was selling the drug to children.

Police proceeded to the man’s residence.

“The SAPS members asked to search his house, whereby they found dagga in his room and in the yard that was hidden under a cardboard box,” said Maritz.

The drugs weigh 1.1kg and have an estimated street value of R2 500.

The suspect was arrested for being in possession of dagga and detained at the Benoni Police Station.

He is expected to appear in the Benoni Magistrate’s Court soon.
