Robber sentenced to 15 years

The sentence was handed down in the Benoni Regional Court on June 2.

Mlungisi Sibeko assaulted and robbed a woman of her cellphone and cash on Davidson Street, near the Benoni Bunny Park on January 26.

The woman screamed for help during the robbery.

Community members assisted and managed to apprehend the suspect.

Sibeko was then arrested and detained at the Benoni Police Station.

He is now serving his sentence at Modderbee Prison.
