Renier was the ‘best man I ever knew’
Family of Renier Theron were grateful when over 150 community members attended a candle lighting ceremony on Wednesday night (August 10) to pay homage to Theron, who died on August 6.
The evening of remembrance saw those who attended lighting candles and placing them, as well as flowers, in front of Ren-Tech Auto Panelbeaters, in Lake Avenue.
Theron owned the CBD-based business, where he was shot a day before his death.
A chaplain addressed the crowd and prayed for the family, neighbourhood and the life lost.
Janine Theron, Renier’s wife, was comforted by friends and family after her father thanked the community for their support.
Fanie Muller, a close friend of Theron, said: “He was the best man I ever knew, the amount of people here should attest to that.”
The funeral will be held at noon on Friday (August 12), at the Old Apostolic Church in Cranbourne Avenue, Western Extension.
