Toy Run roars into town

Thousands of bikers descended on the Benoni Northerns Sports Grounds for the 34th annual Gauteng Motorcycle Toy Run, on Sunday.

It was the sixth consecutive year that the Toy Run finished in Benoni.

Around 20 000 to 30 000 bikers made their way to the sport club, each carting along at least one toy, which was the entry fee.

The day was filled with lots of entertainment and stalls.

Bikers departed from five mass starting points at 9am, which were: the Irene Village Mall, The Blockhouse Garage, Carnival City Casino, Silverstar Casino and Montecasino.

This year featured the first women-only mass ride gathering from Montecasino, Fourways.

All the donations will be directed to different charities, for the benefit of underprivileged children.

Organiser Graeme Cartwright was grateful to all those who supported this year’s Toy Run.

“Thank you to the community for being patient with us; we’re truly grateful,” said Cartwright.
