Educating the community one day at a time
The non-profit organisation Siyasiza, which started in 2010, assists in educating the community through various projects.

“The purpose of starting the organisation, was to empower people through education to bring upliftment to our communities and nation,” said Charmaine Noca, the fund-raiser administrator at Siyasiza.
With the main focus being education, Siyasiza currently works with 196 children in the foundation phase of learning.
This particular project is run by Rujeko Moyo, the literacy support project manager at Siyasiza.
On average the organisation feeds about 250 to 300 children three times a week, through the Manna Project.
About 80 children are fed four times a week through the Feeducate project, which includes encouraging them to attend school with dignity – by supplying them with 42 toiletry packs per month.
The Shining Light Pack project aims to feed families in need, with non-perishable food parcels.
Siyasiza currently requires funding and volunteers for teaching.
“Funding determines our capacity to get the necessary resources, to educate effectively,” said Noca.
Helping in areas across Benoni, especially Chief Albert Luthuli Park, the organisation also assists learners from Benoni Junior School, Benoni West School and Willowmore High School.
Run by two permanent staff members, Noca and Moyo, Siyasiza has various projects that they are part of within the community.
“We work with other charities and organisations,” said Noca.
“If we are given items that aren’t part of the requirements for the projects we run; and other charities need assistance with that, we gladly assist them.”
