WATCH: Man robbed at Northmead filling station

A case of armed robbery has been opened following a robbery at an Engen filling station in Northmead today (August 2).

The incident took place at the garage on Fifth Avenue, just after 2pm.

In a video of the crime, a man is seen walking to a vehicle.

As he is about the pay by card, two men approach him.

Capt Nomsa Sekele, Benoni SAPS spokesperson, said the customer was having fuel poured into his vehicle when a silver Mercedes-Benz stopped.

The two male occupants, one of which had a firearm, got out of the car and robbed the man of his wallet and watch.
The men fled in the Mercedes-Benz.

No injuries were reported.

The filling station’s management declined to comment.
