UPDATE: EFF comments on ‘action plan’ letter for Benoni

The EFF has confirmed it will embark on a peaceful multi-party march in Germiston tomorrow (August 8), in support of a vote to have President Jacob Zuma removed from his position as the country’s president.

Sipho Watkins, the EFF regional secretary in Ekurhuleni, said reports of a violent EFF-organised mobilisation in Benoni’s Ward 24 tomorrow are not true.

He was commenting on a letter outlining a plan to barricade roads and burn tyres, which was circulated on social media today. It was signed off by the EFF.

Watkins said an investigation revealed that a person who was wrongfully added to a group and who does not belong to the EFF, leaked the letter from the platform.

Watkins said the peaceful march is due to start on the corner of Johann Rissik Road and Victoria Street, Germiston, at 9am, and will proceed to the Germiston Civic Centre.
