CPF raises funds to better serve the community
The Benoni Community Policing Forum (CPF) held its annual fund-raiser at Indianapolis Spur in Boksburg on October 10.
The day entailed a children’s party for over 80 youngsters from orphanages and places of safety.
Each child received a burger, chips, cold drink and an ice-cream.
Spur vouchers were awarded to winners of the colouring-in competition.
The event also included an auction.
Various CPF members attended the event, which was also attended by Col Martin van Nieuwenhuizen head of Vispol at the Benoni SAPS.
According to Reza Patel, executive chairperson of the Ekurhuleni Central Cluster CPF, the money raised from the event will go towards uniforms, lights and communication devices.
As part of the activities, people paid R10 000 to have Patel released from a mock-up prison cell.
The chairperson said an amount of about R40 000 was raised last year.
Indianapolis Spur gave the CPF 10 per cent of the day’s sales.
The amount raised was not known at the time of publishing.
