Man arrested for alleged rape of an 11-year-old

A man (34) who was charged for allegedly raping his step-daughter (11) will appear in Benoni Magistrate's Court on Friday.

“The child allegedly narrated to her teacher about was happening,” said Putfontein SAPS spokesperson Const Justice Ramaube.

“The teacher then reported the incident to Daveyton Police Station and the case of rape was transferred to Putfontein Police Station.”

According to Ramaube, the stepfather has allegedly been raping his stepdaughter since 2013.

SAPS then investigated through their Family violence Child protection and Sexual offences (FCS) unit that took the minor to the clinic for tests.

“The suspect was then arrested shortly after on Wednesday (October 25),” Ramaube said.

“The child is now in a SAPS protection unit.”

Police are investigating.
