The operation led to 14 people being arrested, while unlicensed shebeens were closed down, liquor was confiscated and fines were issued to owners trading without legal licenses.
Police seized dagga worth R100 000 and dangerous weapons were also seized.
Ekurhuleni Central Cluster head of spokesperson’s Lt Col Mack Mngomezulu said the operation was to deter crime at the hostel.
