Stolen, hijacked vehicles found in Benoni

One man has been arrested.

A 37-year-old man was arrested in Etwatwa for possession of a stolen vehicle on March 22.

The Benoni Flying Squad made the arrest and recovered a white Toyota Etios in Etwatwa Extension Nine.

WO Grant Giblin, the communications officer for the Benoni Flying Squad, said the vehicle had been stolen the previous day in Florida.

The car was recovered at the arrestee’s house.

“After an investigation, the owner of the residence was arrested for possession of a suspected stolen motor vehicle,” said Giblin.

“The vehicle was totally stripped inside in an attempt to remove and find the tracking device, but to no success.”

The man will appear in the Daveyton Magistrate’s Court soon.

In a separate incident, the Benoni Flying Squad members found a hijacked Toyota Corolla which had been hijacked in Tembisa on March 22.

The car was found abandoned in Harry Gwala Street.
