Six arrested over the weekend

The suspects were due to appear in their respective Magistrate Courts.

The Benoni Flying Squad arrested six people in Daveyton and Kingsway over the weekend.

Two men were arrested on the N12 next to Kingsway for being in possession of a stolen vehicle.

“The vehicle is alleged to have been hijacked in the Honeydew area earlier this month,” said Benoni Flying Squad communications officer WO Grant Giblin.

In another incident, a man was arrested on Lindiwe Street, Chris Hani Extension One, Daveyton. The man was arrested for malicious damage to property and another was arrested for theft in Daisy Street, Daveyton.

Giblin said police also arrested a woman for attempted murder after she stabbed her boyfriend.

Another man was arrested for shoplifting at Daveyton Mall.

Giblin said investigations continue on all suspects arrested and police are determined to trace those who might be involved in the hijacked vehicles.

All suspects, aged between 20 and 45, were expected to appear in Magistrate’s Courts in their areas.
