Relive some of the greatest moments in history
The Benoni Museum boasts a diverse culture of local history that includes military and mining collections and the main feature of which is focused on late struggle icon Oliver Reginald Tambo, who was a resident of Wattville.
Hendrick Boya (heritage administrator) and Mpume Khamis (research officer) provided some insight as to what the museum offers.
Boya highlighted the relationship between Tambo and Nelson Mandela as one of many key factors in the struggle.
“Tambo lived in Wattville during the struggle, this is why we have such significance placed on him at the museum.
“It is because of the work of the struggle icons such as Tambo and Mandela that we can all enjoy freedom today,” he said.
With the centenary birthday of Mandela on Mandela Day, the museum wanted to exhibit information about the late global icon himself.
Unfortunately, due to financial constraints, they do not have any Mandela exhibitions.

“Nothing is too small to share, even a paper clip can add value,” she said.
