It’s one for the books at Home-Start

Home-Start walked away with a whopping R2 500 from their Big Bargain Book sale on Saturday (July 14).

The sale took place on their premises at 18 Mowbray Avenue, Western Extension.

Home-Start is a non-profit organisation that invests in the well-being of families and children who struggle to cope with problems such as poverty, crime, ill health, abuse, neglect and drugs, to name a few.

A number of services are provided for these families, including home visits, parent effectiveness training, a bereavement programme and play therapy.

Mother and daughter, Elizabeth (left) and Gillian Kiff enjoy reading crime novels, thrillers and mysteries.

Volunteers at Home-Start are parents themselves, so the organisation assures support and advice for fellow parents who face difficulty with understanding their children.

Mila Dunbar (5) enthusiastically reads a book.
