NPOs can apply now to man gift-wrapping stations

All proceeds are donated to the local charity manning the station.

Registered non-profit organisations (NPOs) in Benoni can now apply to man a gift-wrapping station at Shoprite, Checkers and Checkers Hyper stores to raise funds for their organisation over the festive season.

Annually, hundreds of qualifying charities man the in-store gift wrapping stations at stores across South Africa, where customers can have their gifts wrapped in exchange for a small donation.

“This is a great fund-raising initiative,” explained marketing manager of NPO New Beginnings Bernice Myers.

“December is the most difficult time of the year but the funds we raise carry us through this rough time.

“We are always grateful.”

Regional fund-raiser at CHOC Childhood Cancer Foundations Gadija Israel said charities should grab this opportunity with both hands.

“It’s a huge help.

“Last year we were able to buy a new fridge and special treats for the children living in our CHOC Homes.

“It goes a long way in easing financial burdens.”

Applying to become a beneficiary organisation is easy:

• Complete the online application form before November 2, 2018, (shoprite.co.za/giftwrappingapplication/home).

• Attach a copy of your South African ID or passport and NPO certificate.

• Read the terms and conditions.

• Wait for an email confirmation regarding the status of your application.
