Laetitia Alberts, Grade 10 teacher at Benoni High, said they thank everyone who came to support them as there is no better cause than a cause for the animals.
“There has been a lot of animal abuse lately and with this event, we are creating awareness and giving back to the animal shelters in our community,” said Alberts.
Zalita Laas from the Purple Red Paws Amaranthine Rescue and Rehabilitation Centre said they were honoured to be part of the event and they got the opportunity to educate the residents about who they are and what services they offer.
On the day, there were various stalls, a carwash, dog owner lookalike, best tricks and best-dressed competitions.
All proceeds raised from the event will be donated to the chosen organisations.
