Msimanga shares his vision for Gauteng at breakfast in Benoni
He added that the party is concerned about the backlog in government housing for lower income earners and the poor.
The Democratic Alliance (DA) hosted a business breakfast at Benoni Country Club on March 6 with Gauteng Premier candidate and former Tshwane mayor Solly Msimanga as the guest speaker.
Leadership in communities, downsizing government expenditure and accountability were his key talking points.

“Gauteng is pregnant with opportunities,” said Msimanga.
“If the province was a country on its own, it would rank seventh in Africa because of its current GDP (gross domestic profit).”
His vision for the province includes:
• A professional, honest police force.
• At least one job in every household.
• Attractive investment opportunities.
• Combating corruption.
• Better immigration controls and allocation of government resources to immigration.
Msimanga said unemployment is being exacerbated by a lack of skills training.
“We cannot celebrate households that receive social grants because the dependency level on grants in the country is too high.
“We also need to be able to partner with the private sector to reach our goals and create an environment that will attract investors.”
Also present at the breakfast were local ward councillors Malanie Haggard (Ward 28), André du Plessis (Ward 23), Kabelo Mahonko (Ward 24), Jacques Meiring (Ward 27), Haseena Ismail (Ward 29) and Sinethemba Matiwane (Ward 73) and Benoni CPF chairperson Reza Patel.
