Fake doctor arrested in Daveyton

A case of fraud was opened at the Daveyton SAPS.

A 43-year-old man has been arrested on charges of fraud and impersonating a doctor on March 12 in Daveyton.

Ekurhuleni Central Cluster spokesperson Capt Nomsa Sekele said it is alleged that the man was operating as a doctor with fake documents.

“The allegations came after a private company lodged a complaint to the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) about their employees’ sick notes coming from the same doctor always,” said Sekele.

“The HPCSA screened the alleged doctor and discovered that he was not legit and he used credentials of another doctor who is in Mafikeng.”

A case of fraud was opened at the Daveyton SAPS by the HPCSA.

The man was then arrested and he is expected to appear in court soon.
