Rynfield resident reunites with her siblings after five decades

Although the siblings have not yet made any plans to meet again, Fiona said the recent gathering was fantastic and saw a gathering of 20 family members under the same roof.

A very special family reunion for Rynfield resident Fiona Wood recently united her with her seven other siblings – after 51 years.

Fiona said the gathering was to celebrate her sister, Ann Worrell’s, 70th birthday and took place in Cape Town on March 21.

“Our last reunion was my wedding in Scotland 51 years ago.”

Fiona said the highlight of the recent reunion was to have all of her siblings together again.

When asked why she chose to be the only one to reside in Benoni for 44 years, Fiona said it has a beautiful village atmosphere.

She did say that at some stage or the other all eight of them and their parents resided in Benoni.

Currently, only three siblings live in South Africa, Ann Worrell (Somerset West, Western Cape), Fiona Wood (Rynfield) and Fay Mann (Bedfordview).

The other four siblings, Colin Hannah, Morag Duncan, James Hannah and Elizabeth Haughey, live in Brisbane, Australia, and Margaret Scott lives in Canberra, Australia.
