ICY’s core values are based on integrity, children and youth first, servant-hood, financial transparency, operate with professionalism, quality and excellence and biblical principles.
Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day, but teach him how to fish and you feed him for a lifetime – Chinese proverb.
This is what the Influencing Children and Youth (ICY) NPO aims to do every week by giving children from abused homes and backgrounds an opportunity to bake so their pancakes can be sold and the proceeds are given to them.

Their pancakes will be sold at the Country Life Retirement Village in Brentwood Park every Saturday from 9am to noon from May 4.
The idea is to give youngsters a sense of responsibility towards their earnings and future.
ICY and some of the teens from a Benoni home held a trial run at the estate on April 6, where they sold coconut ice, Oreo delights, biscuits, pancakes and popcorn.
“I plan to save any money I make and invest it into my pension fund,” said one of the girls.
“At first I was not excited about the idea of working, but it turns out that it is a lot of fun to be here.”
ICY is a dynamic multi-faceted registered non-profit company focusing on abused and neglected children ages nine to 17 years.
The Rynfield-based NPO holds camping and long-term mentorship programmes that build resilience and develops character.
The skills development programme helps teens to develop entrepreneurial and leadership skills.
Their pillars are:
• Camping programmes
• Mentorship programmes
• Skills development
• Training – community enrichment
