Benoni Flying Squad (BFS) officers who arrested 16 suspects and recovered four vehicles recently.
“In and around Daveyton, five suspects were arrested for alleged assault in Kheswa Street, theft in Simanga Street, pointing of a firearm in Esselen Street, rape in Mahloba Street and business burglary in Daveyton Mall,” said BFS WO Grant Giblin.
“Again, in the battle against drugs, five suspects were allegedly found in possession of various quantities of drugs in Pretoria Central during inauguration duties, 6th Street, Boksburg, Rietfontein Road, Primrose and Phomalong Section, Tembisa.
“Cocaine, nyaope and dagga were confiscated and the suspects arrested immediately.”
Giblin added that in Tembisa two suspects wanted in an alleged hijacking case were arrested in Ecaleni and Endulweni sections.
“Another two suspects at Ehlanzeni Hostel were found with an unlicensed 7.65mm pistol and nine live rounds of ammunition when a complainant pointed out one of the suspects after he had earlier been robbed of his personal firearm.
“They were arrested immediately and the firearm confiscated.”

Two suspects were arrested in CR Swart Drive, Kempton Park, and Andrew Mapheto Drive, Tembisa, for allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol.
Giblin said, in further policing, four abandoned vehicles were recovered:
• White Toyota Hilux bakkie on R21 towards Kempton Park close to Nelmapius Drive, stolen in a Pretoria Central case.
• Yellow Toyota Corolla in Esiphetweni Section, Tembisa, stolen in a Tembisa case.
• White Volkswagen Caddy in Mokwapane Street, Chris Hani, hijacked in a Daveyton case.
• Blue Toyota Corolla in Etwatwa Extension Nine, stolen in a Ratanda case.
Investigation continues in all cases.
The suspects, aged 21 to 53 years, will appear in the local magistrate’s courts facing charges of possession and dealing in drugs, assault, theft, hijacking, driving under the influence of alcohol, rape, pointing of a firearm, possession of unlicensed firearm, robbery of firearm and burglary respectively.
