A case of business robbery was opened at the Putfontein Police Station after an armed robbery occurred at a tavern on Durant Road, Putfontein, on June 5 around 1.50pm.
Putfontein SAPS spokesperson Const Raider Ubisi said it is alleged two men entered the tavern pretending to be customers.
“While inside the tavern, they ordered food, sat down and ate,” said Ubisi.

“Then suddenly, when the owner of tavern came back from outside, one of the men took out a firearm and threatened him to open the till.”
Ubisi said the robbers took an undisclosed amount of money and locked the owner and his wife in one of the rooms.
Suspects fled the scene and no injuries were reported.
