From June 21 to June 23, Benoni Flying Squad (BFS) officers arrested 11 suspects, recovered three motor vehicles and confiscated one firearm.
“In Benoni CBD, one female was detained after allegedly stealing a bottle of liquor,” said BFS spokesperson WO Grant Giblin.

Two abandoned vehicles were also recovered, a silver Volkswagen Polo at Mapleton reported hijacked in an Elsburg case and a white Toyota Hilux bakkie at Putfontein squatter camp hijacked in a Daveyton case.
“Officers following up information recovered five large bags of cellphones and accessories in a veld at Van der Linde Road, Bedfordview,” said Giblin.
“The goods were valued at around R700 000 and robbed from a retail store in Middelburg.
“One suspect was arrested on the scene of the recovery.”
In Ivory Park a number of arrests occurred. In Extension 15, three were arrested after being found in possession of suspected stolen property, including baby products, grooming kits and hair dryers to the value of around R150 000.
“One was arrested in Millo Street for assault and one in Extension 13 for attempted murder after the victim was shot in the shoulder,” Giblin explained.
“A 9mm pistol and six live rounds of ammunition were also confiscated on the scene.
“One was arrested in Ebony Park Extension Two after he was found with a Silver Tata stolen in an Ivory Park case and a further three at Phumulani Mall, Tembisa, for common robbery and assault.”
Investigation continues in all cases.
“Working with the community led to the arrest of these suspects and the recovery of the three vehicles,” Giblin said.
“All reported hijacked and stolen vehicles can be followed up with the relevant investigating officers as per case numbers.”
