The Actonville SAPS collaborated with South African National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence (SANCA), Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) and other child and women empowerment groups, to bring a message of hope to the youth.
“We are addressing the youth who are affected by social ills such as substance abuse in the Actonville and Wattville area,” said Actonville SAPS station commander Col Elsie Mashinini.
“This programme is for everyone, even those who live in the hostels.
“We are here with SANCA, the AA and the community stakeholders who made this day a success.
“My message to the youth is for them to abstain from drugs and to notify us as to where they get the drugs from so that we can catch the perpetrators.
“The youth belong in school and they need education because with it you can achieve great things.
“We want to ensure that this is a safe and clean environment for all.”
