Newly appointed MMC meets team
Mmoko took up the reins on June 13, following both the national and provincial government elections, which took place in May this year.
The EMPD and Disaster and Emergency Management Services (DEMS) welcomed the newly appointed Member of Mayoral Committee (MMC) for Community Safety, Clr Pheladi Frans Mmoko, during a meet-and-greet recently.
“Mmoko, who has been a member of the Community Safety Oversight Committee for a couple of years, is well-versed with the happenings in terms of community safety, which comprises the EMPD and DEMS, at the helm of which are the chief of police Isaac Jabulani Mapiyeye and Sam Sibande, head of DEMS,” said EMPD spokesperson Chief Supt Wilfred Kgasago.

Kgasago said Mmoko, who possesses an unquestionable passion and energy for service delivery and displays intention to hit the ground running, invited the heads of departments (HODs) of EMPD and DEMS, with their divisional heads, to a meet-and-greet session in Bedfordview with the purpose of putting faces to the names he had not met before, as well as to know his team better.
“The messages Mmoko delivered during the session were inspiring and invigorating, which everybody agreed augurs well for the team, acquitting themselves extremely well for the weighty work that lies ahead,” Kgasago concluded.
