UPDATE: Jamie gets his wheelchair repaired

A technician was sent out to have a look at the wheelchair, and it turned out that there was a lot more wrong with the wheelchair which was sent to Mobility Aid.

Jamie Cooks can now move easily after he has had his wheelchair repaired by the Specialised Battery Systems Company on Golden drive.

Brenda Jones from the accounts department had recently read the article in the City Times on page three, “Poverty Stricken mother wants better life for paraplegic son”.

The article is about Lynne and her son, Jamie Cooks, who needed help.

She read that his wheelchair needed a new battery and charger, and went to speak to the director, Bradley Orren, and suggested that they donate these items of which he agreed.

A technician was sent out to have a look at the wheelchair, and it turned out that there was a lot more wrong with the wheelchair which was sent to Mobility Aid, and they were quoted R11 600.

Megan Brits said: “We are not a company that deals with wheelchairs, we specialise in batteries but we thought we could assist with a battery which we did not have either, and had to order it from Mobility Aid. They gave us a big discount because they knew it was for charity.”

She added that “this is not something we do, but I also think that God works in mysterious ways, and we are glad that we could help where we can. Everything is in working order and he can now use it to get around easily.”
