Police encourage communities to form neighbourly bonds

Over 400 pamphlets were handed out to commuters as they boarded taxis, warning them of trends such as buying stolen goods

On September 4, Putfontein SAPS officers did a community outreach at Mayfield and Zenzele taxi rank to warn members of the community about crime in their area.

“Over 400 pamphlets were handed out to commuters as they boarded taxis, warning them of trends such as buying stolen goods which encourage more house break ins,” said Putfontein SAPS spokesperson Const Raider Ubisi.

“The commuters were encouraged to form good relationships with their neighbours so that they’ll guard each other’s properties.

“They were also warned not to take the law into their own hands if they catch a suspect.

“The acting station commander Capt Thabo Mutsi thanked the members for their effort in ensuring that they reach the community.”
