AfriForum Benoni to host a mass patrol

AfriForum Benoni will be hosting a mass patrol on October 4 from 6pm in support of the AfriForum national mass patrol.

“The purpose of these patrols is to act on behalf of our members and the communities of South Africa,” said AfriForum Benoni deputy chairperson Ettiene de Klerk.

“One of AfriForum’s focus areas is the safety of our communities.

“For this reason, AfriForum established neighbourhood watches on a national level to assist the SAPS, safety structures and the local community within the framework of the law.

“Currently, AfriForum has more than 130 neighbourhood watches nationally, working in conjunction with the local SAPS and other security organisations and companies.

“Every year, AfriForum neighbourhood watches conduct several national patrols.

“The aim of these patrols is to increase visibility and mobilise awareness within communities.

“The members assist the SAPS by acting as their eyes and ears.

“This event will be supported by the SAPS, various security providers, CPF and ER 24, all adding to the support of proactive participation and assistance within our communities.

“The patrol will be from 6pm in the evening until 6am the following morning.

“All vehicles will be clearly marked and the mass patrol will be managed from the AfriForum office at Unit 12 on the corner of 7th Avenue in Northmead, opposite Northmead Mall.
