Benoni SAPS officers achieve at Polmusca Festival

Attacks against law enforcement officers as well as adequate protection were also discussed at the event.

Benoni SAPS officers representing the province at the 27th edition of the Police Musical Unity Festival (Polmusca) in the Free State sang and danced their way to top spots recently.

The Polmusca Festival prides itself on its rich heritage of cultivating talent and showcasing the top choirs, bands and traditional dance groups within the SAPS and across South Africa as they compete for the top honours.

Benoni SAPS station commander Brig Ntakuseni Lukhwareni (left) was also present at the festival.

The following officers were rewarded for their efforts:

• Category One: Exhibition

Gauteng was placed first in this category and represented by Benoni SAPS’s Const Lerato Mabetoa, Const Pretty Sindane and Sgt Dunky Ngwenya.

• Category Two: Ballroom dance

Gauteng was placed second and was represented by Benoni SAPS’s Const Nonhlanhla Happiness Vilakazi and Roodepoort SAPS’s Const Nduduzo Hlongwane.

• Category Three: Choral Music

Gauteng was placed second and was represented by Benoni SAPS’s Const Edwin Moraba.

Officers were encouraged to use the festival to de-stress and draw strength in song and dance and return to their provinces with vigour and continue with the fight against crime.
