PCBT donates to Mehlareng Combined Farm School

On September 30, over 250 shacks at the informal settlement were destroyed by a fire.

Peermont distributed school shoes and mattresses to the Mehlareng Combined Farm School, which will be donated to the families of the Pomona informal settlement next to Great North Road on October 30.

Through the Peermont Community Benefit Trust (PCBT), 46 pairs of school shoes were handed over to the children and 45 mattresses to the families.

PCBT trustee Vusi Zwane said when they heard about the fire and how it had affected the people living there, the trustees wanted to make a contribution.

“Working closely with Nomsa Fuzile, a social worker for EMM, the shoes and mattresses to the value of R20 000 will be distributed to the neediest families,” said Zwane.
