The Benoni Police are investigating a case of murder after a man, believed to be in his early 30s, was shot dead on December 2 at Voortrekker Street, Benoni CBD, around 7.30 pm.
Spokesperson Capt Nomsa Sekele said it is alleged that the deceased was walking to the taxi rank with a colleague after work.

“As they were about to cross the street, they were approached by an armed man wearing a balaclava and he just shot the deceased,” said Sekele.
“The colleague ran way, and, as the deceased was trying to also run, another man came towards him and shot him repeatedly.”
Sekele said the two men fled in a Toyota Corolla.
“During the shootout, a bystander was shot in the left hand and was taken to the nearest hospital,” she said.
The colleague was not hurt and the motive of the killing is not known.
A case of murder and attempted murder was open.
