Franchise outlets help Friends of Martin de Porres

Over 300 children from the community were treated to Wimpy burgers, chips, cool drinks and sweets on the day.

On December 14, Wimpy franchise outlets consisting the Wimpy East Rand Mall Entrance 3, Wimpy Lakeside Mall, Wimpy Mall @Carnival, Wimpy Lakefield Roadhouse, Wimpy Oakfields and Wimpy Douglasdale treated the Friends of Martin de Porres to a day of food, fun and festivities.

Friends of Martin de Porres is an NPO that runs a community centre for women and children in Barcelona, Etwatwa.

The City Times previously reported that along with providing meals to the beneficiaries of the organisation, collection points were created at the franchises for clothing, shoes and other goods that community members could drop off for the Friends of Martin de Porres.

The initial date for the handover was December 7.

Michelle MacGregor, of Friends of Martin de Porres, said among the items collected and donated were clothing, shoes, stationery, non-perishable food items and toys.
