EMPD arrests four suspects for drug possession

All the suspects were charged with possession and dealing in illicit substances and are expected to appear in the Benoni Magistrate’s Court soon.

EMPD Drug Enforcement Unit officers wasted no time in arresting four men on January 29 in Benoni during a crime prevention operation.

“The suspects were found with narcotics, khat, rocks, heroin and dagga, all of which was seized,” said EMPD spokesperson Kobeli Mokheseng.

“A suspicious-looking 29-year-old man cornered in Makhathini Street, Actonville, was handcuffed after a body search revealed 13 ziplock bags of khat and 16 pieces of rock, valued at R3 000. R600 was also confiscated.”

In Voortrekker Road and Kemston Avenue three men were arrested after officers uncovered 13 pieces of rock, 10 ziplock bags of dagga, two knotted plastic bags of heroin and seven glass tubes (drug paraphernalia), valued at R3 300. R1 560 cash was also confiscated.
