One arrested for stolen goods

The suspect, aged 32, arrested for possession of copper cables, will be appearing in the local magistrate's court facing charges of possession of suspected stolen goods.

Over last weekend (January 24 to 26) the Benoni Flying Squad (BFS) officers arrested one suspect and recovered alleged stolen goods.

“BFS officers pulled over a suspicious white Tata truck on the N12 between Springs and Etwatwa off-ramps,” said BFS spokesperson, WO Grant Giblin.

“It was loaded with 19 bags containing copper cables. Upon investigation it appeared the cables were suspected to be stolen. The driver was immediately arrested and the cables, estimated to be worth around R70 000, were impounded.”
