Interior decorator speaks to Garland ladies

Items bought that carry sentimental value could also be used as inspiration to decorate a room.

Classic blue is the predicted colour for 2020.

This is according to Rynfield interior decorator Lauren le Roux who was the guest speaker at the Garland ladies luncheon on February 27.

The Katze Room on the Ebotse Golf Estate in Rynfiled was filled with almost 100 ladies ready to enjoy an afternoon of fine dining, fellowship and tips on interior designing.

Le Roux, who had been in the industry for 15 years, said that interior design has evolved over the years and advised women to trust their instincts when it comes to their homes.

“Decorating is a lifestyle, it’s about the feeling and we need to approach our homes in a way that gives us the warm fuzzy feeling when we enter the room,” she said.

She also added that inspiration could be taken from current fashion trends, but most importantly you should look at your lifestyle, what you do, what you like and who you are.

The top three tips she gave to the ladies are:

• Utilise all the space in your house.

• High-priced items such as couches, curtains, and permanent items should be kept in neutral colours.

• Work around with small items as these could be changed as often as you please.

She also emphasised that roll-up blinds are now trending and could be used in various rooms for different reasons and they are easy to clean.

She allowed the ladies to ask a few questions.

The afternoon ended with the ladies having a look at all the fabric and art pieces le Roux brought with her.
