Illegal mining equipment were seized on March 3 at Van Ryn during the ongoing SAPS’ O kae molao (where is the law?) operation.
The operation was led by Col Alistair Subramanian and executed with EMPD district officers and community patrollers.

Actonville SAPS spokesperson Sgt Godin Nyathi said O kae molao is aimed at clamping down on illegal mining in the area.
During the operation, 24 phendukas , 20 iron pots, 200 iron balls, three gas bottles, six iron rods and commercial explosives were seized.
No arrests were made.
