BFS makes multiple arrests

Investigation continues in all cases.

 The Benoni Flying Squad (BFS) saw the success of three arrests and recovery of three motor vehicles over the past weekend in and around Benoni.

“On Friday, officers arrested one suspect in Ethafeni Section, Thembisa, when he was found in possession of cigarettes to the value of R30 000, which he was allegedly been selling. The cigarettes were confiscated,” said BFS spokesperson WO Grant Giblin.

“On Saturday, officers responded to a chase of a silver Toyota Corolla in connection with a house robbery in Vosloorus.

“The vehicle was pulled over on Modder Road, Benoni, and one suspect was arrested..”

On Sunday, one suspect was arrested at Bramley SAPS for fraud.

“This transpired after officers recovered a silver Toyota Corolla at Evergreen shopping centre on Pretoria Road, Kempton Park which had been reported stolen on a Bramley case.

“Upon investigation, it came light the owner had sold the vehicle and then reported it stolen at Bramley SAPS.

“He was lured to the police station to clarify the matter, whereupon he was placed under arrest.”

Giblin added that in further policing, an abandoned white Nissan NP200 was recovered in Umfuyaneni Section, Thembisa, reported hijacked on a Thembisa SAPS case.

The suspects, aged between 23 to 44, will appear in local magistrate’s courts to face their respective charges.
