Judy Stoch dies age 83
Members of the Benoni Garden Club and University of the Third Age (U3A) mourn the death of Judy Stoch who died at her Lakefield home on June 25.
According to U3A member Tico Poplak, Judy died after suffering a long-term illness at the age of 83.
She lived with her parents on a farm near Putfontein until they moved to Westdene in 1945.
“Her father, Koteil Jankelowirz, developed the iconic business Benoni Farmers Supply, which was situated in the CBD.
“Judy matriculated from Benoni High and graduated from Wits as a kindergarten teacher.

“She worked for some years at the Rose Kirshner Nursery school.
“Judy married Eric Stoch, who was a well-known medical practitioner in Benoni.
“She also belonged to the Benoni Hebrew community.”
Tico said Judy was an avid gardener, well-known for her great interest in gardens and her amazing catering talent and hospitality.”She and Eric were members of Round Table in the early years.
“Judy is survived by her sons, Greg and Roger, daughter-in-law Lauren, daughter Sandy, 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild,” Tico said.
