Income from these charity shops make a substantial contribution to the organisations each month, and they always welcome donations

These ladies are ready to help you at the Benoni SPCA charity shop. They are: Alinah Mokegele (left), Angela and Margret Emmeti.

Residents are encouraged to support the following charity shops in Benoni which are operational during lockdown, as money spent shopping here go towards a worthy cause. Remember too, they always welcome donations! The more stock the better!

These are some of the Benoni charity shops:

Hospice East Rand (Western Extension) corner Bright Street and Kempston Avenue and 17 D Waterson Street, Rynfield. Items sold: Clothing and household goods. Operating hours: 9am to 4pm (Monday to Friday), 9am to 12.pm (Saturday). Bookshop is open every first Saturday of the month from 9.30am to 12pm. Contact: 011 422 1531.

Benoni SPCA (Lakefield) 3 Klein Street. Items sold: Books, clothing and household goods. Operating hours: 9am to 2pm (Monday to Friday) Contact: 011 894 2814/5.

Kids Haven (Benoni CBD) Cranbourne Avenue or on the corner of Woburn Avenue and Russel Street. Items Sold: Clothing, toys, books and households goods and collectables. Operating hours: 8am to 4pm (Monday to Friday). Contact: 011 422 4222.

Home-Start SA (Western Extension) 18 Mowbray Avenue. Items sold: Clothing, books, ornaments, household goods. Operating hours: 9am to 12pm (Monday, Wednesday and Friday). Contact: 011 845 1116.

The Greater Benoni Child Welfare (Northmead) 1 Third Street. Items sold: Second-hand goods, blankets, clothing.Operating hours: 10am to 1pm (Monday, Wednesday and Thursday). Contact: 011 849 5241.

Salvation Army (Benoni CBD) 9 Rothsay Street. Items sold: Household goods, toys, furniture and clothing. Operating hours: 8am to 4pm (Monday to Friday) and 9am to 10.30am (Saturday). Contact: 011 422 4418.

The Animal Guardians: 86 Cloverdene Rd, Rynfield AH. Items sold: Household goods, toys and clothing. Operating hours: 10am to 3pm (Monday to Friday) 10am to 2pm (Saturday) 10am to 12pm (Sunday) Contact: 076 330 5736.
