Putfontein resident robbed at home

Putfontein SAPS station commander Lt Col Wellington Mathiane advises business owners against keeping large sums of cash as it puts their lives in danger

A man was held at gunpoint during a house robbery on July 20 at the Lilyvale plots in Putfontein at around 10.25pm.

Putfontein SAPS spokesperson Sgt Raider Ubisi said the victim told police he was coming from Benoni, where he assisted a colleague to replace a flat tyre.

“When he arrived home, he was accosted by four men who pointed a firearm at him, called him by his name and demanded money,” said Ubisi.

“He was then forced into his room, whereby the room was ransacked and an undisclosed amount of money that was stashed in a handbag was taken by the alleged suspects. The robbers then left without firing any shots.”
