Benoni Sassa office to reopen tomorrow (August 7)
The office has been decontaminated and is safe for officials and beneficiaries
The Benoni Sassa office, in Elston Avenue, which was closed on July 29 due to positive Covid-19 cases, will reopen tomorrow (August 7).
According to local officer manager Trevor Pillay, the office has been disinfected and fully prepared for officials to work in a safe environment and to receive clients applying for social grants.
In a previous statement, Sassa said that as a responsible agency, they regard the safety of officials and that of their beneficiaries as very important and were as such compelled to temporarily close the Benoni local office.
“Sassa pleads for understanding from our clients in these difficult times. In the case of a closed office in your area, beneficiaries are advised to seek help from the next nearest Sassa office,” Pillay said.
“Beneficiaries are requested to note that in all Sassa offices beneficiaries and officials entering our premises are required to wear masks, get screened daily, sanitise and are also required to sign an attendance register to ensure that everyone can be traced in case there is a confirmed positive case.
“In a case where an official tests positive, the office will immediately be closed and the infected official will be in isolation, according to the Department of Health guidelines, while all those who have been in close contact with the official will be advised to self quarantine.”
