Drugs worth R100 000 seized by EMPD Drug Enforcement

The unit's operations yielded drug successes in Putfontein, Reiger Park and Boksburg CBD

EMPD officers recently arrested five suspects in Benoni and Boksburg and seized narcotics worth over R100 000.

“In Putfontein, the Drug Enforcement Unit officers arrested two suspects, aged 21 and 34. They were found in Marikana Extension 45 with 15 knotted plastics of nyaope, 13 pieces of rock valued at R3 000 and R872 in cash,” said EMPD spokesperson Kobeli Mokheseng.

During a further crime-prevention operation, the team arrested a suspicious-looking man in Reiger Park, Boksburg.

“The suspect (33) was loitering at the corner of Excelsior Avenue and Eike Street and when officers searched him they found 1 720 mandrax tablets in 18 clear knotted plastics, valued at R86 000,” Mokheseng said.

“In Commissioner Street, Boksburg CBD, two suspects, in their 40’s, were found with 32 ziplock bags of crystal meth and four ziplocks of khat, valued at R10 400, and R290 in cash.”

They suspects were all arrested and processed at the respective police stations.
