A 45-year-old woman was raped on her way to work around 5am on September 4 in Mayfield Extension Five, Putfontein.
Putfontein SAPS spokesperson Sgt Raider Ubisi said the victim alleges that as she was on her way to work, she noticed an unknown man walking behind her and she thought he was also going to work.
“The man then grabbed her from the back, threatened her with a knife, demanded money and dragged her to the nearby bushes and raped her,” said Ubisi.
The man also robbed the woman of an undisclosed amount of money.
A case of rape was opened at Putfontein Police Station.
