The Benoni SAPS has opened an inquest docket after a 55-year old Great North Road butchery owner was found dead in the store this morning (September 10) at around 7.30am.
SAPS spokesperson Capt Nomsa Sekele said a female employee and the manager arrived at the butchery at around 8am.
“The manager opened the store and found the owner on the floor with a bullet wound to the upper body. The employees contacted the police.
“The owner was declared dead on scene by paramedics.”
Sekele said a firearm was found next to the body.
